Sebago Lake Real Estate
Our eight towns, bordering one of the state’s most beautiful lakes, form a vibrant region where visitors and residents alike enjoy an abundance of natural resources — the unspoiled beauty of lakes and streams, the peace and tranquility of forests and mountaintops, and the charm of historic villages and one-of-a-kind landmarks.
The Indian name Sebago (Sa-bay-go) means “great stretch of water.” At 8 miles wide and 10 miles long, Maine’s second largest lake is a great and diverse resource. Rivers that flow into Sebago Lake provide a 43-mile length of continuous waterway for all kinds of water sports and recreation. In summer, the famous paddle-wheel steamboat Songo River Queen plies Sebago and Long Lake in Naples, for all who come to the Lakes region.
On the north shore of the lake is Sebago Lake State Park, a popular destination featuring a sandy beach, woodland walking trails, picnic areas, a playground, concessions, restrooms, boat launching and 250 campsites on 1400 acres. Camping is very big in the Sebago Lakes Region, with choices ranging from deluxe lakeside RV sites and cabins to traditional tenting on wooded lots. Enjoy local festivals nearly every weekend featuring great local food, midway fun, and entertainment. Night time holds a wonderful array of things to do in the Lakes Region …dining, live music, drive-in movies, summer stock theatre or just mingling with the throngs on the busy Naples Causeway. Whatever you do, you’ll find that this is a place where lasting memories are made.
In other seasons, the pace of activities may slow down, but there is no lack of things to do in the Sebago Lakes Region. Fall visitors love our brilliant foliage, pumpkin and apple-picking, fly-fishing, agricultural fairs, harvest parties and end-of-summer sales. Winter visitors enjoy Seasons Greetings events, ice fishing derbies, winter carnivals, snowmobiling and community suppers. Spring visitors look forward to Maine Maple Sunday, the Naples Blues Festival, car shows, un-crowded golf courses, and ideal conditions for outdoor sports and recreation.
